Your primary responsibility as a Fire Sprinkler Installation Technician will be the physical installation, assembly, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems on various commercial and industrial construction sites. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse array of systems, such as wet sprinklers, dry systems, deluge sets, standpipes, fire pumps, and more.

Principal Duties

 

The majority of the time, you are responsible for turning plans, pipes, and fittings into functional fire prevention systems that people rely on but secretly hope they will never use. The task progresses as you shift between planning, installation, issue solving, and testing, all the while maintaining an eye on safety, quality, and code. On a normal project, you may expect to:

 

Wet systems, dry systems, anti-freeze systems, fire pumps, standpipes, backflow preventers, hydrants, and associated components must be installed, maintained, inspected, repaired, and tested. According to the needs of the project, choose the right pipe, fittings, and machinery. Verify that installations will not jeopardize structural integrity by inspecting construction locations for such obstructions. Ensure that other trades are not disrupted on the job site by coordinating installation and repair job. Perform tasks such as cutting, threading, grooved, soldering, and assembly of metal and nonmetal pipes, including plastic, steel, and copper. Pipes may be connected by employing joints that are threaded, soldered, grooved, or cemented, and then brackets, clamps, and hangers are used to secure the connections.

 

Verify installation and complete system functionality by operating and testing machines and systems.

 

Always act in accordance with the company's safety regulations, as well as those of OSHA and the workplace.Ensure that all company-owned tools, equipment, and vehicles are kept in pristine condition.

 

Perform tasks requiring the use of ladders, lifts, and scaffolding at heights, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Criteria for Qualification:

Experience with fire sprinkler systems for a minimum of two years is most desirable.

Acquired expertise in both residential and commercial systems

Troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work effectively with others and both individually and in a team is essential.

Must have a good driving record and a safe way to get to and from work.

Be willing to be flexible with your schedule since you may be required to work nights, weekends, or even travel for some of your tasks.

Demonstrating familiarity with fire safety concepts and procedures is essential.
 

Demonstrating familiarity with applicable laws and regulations is a must.
 

Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with standard procedures for checking the quality and completeness of government documents.

Must be able to spot and report problems with inspection systems.

Ability to understand and articulate relevant laws, rules, and regulations is essential.

Keeping precise records and reporting is a must.

Power tools, ladders, medium equipment, and machinery are all examples of small/light equipment that must be able to be used or repaired.
